Health Extension Pet Care welcomed Tim Seibold as the company's southwest territory sales manager. The new appointment will help support Health Extension's recent growth.

Seibold previously worked in human food sales with US Foods for 15 years, and prior to joining Health Extension he spent five years at Nature’s Variety, where he held the position of territory sales manager in the southwest. His accomplishments in the pet food industry include salesman of the year with Nature's Variety in 2014.

Health Extension Pet Care hired Jamie Laton for its newly created position of business development manager. Laton began working at Health Extension in 2010 and has held several internal support positions before joining the sales department as key account manager. She most recently served as national key account manager.

Laton brings a wealth of experience to the business development side, where she will be responsible for continuing her relationship with several of her existing key retailers, as well as providing a strong business development presence to new and select key markets, and focusing on distributor and retailer engagement in the development of those important new markets for Health Extension, said company officials.

There was a time when dog owners would assume that their dog just had gas and leave it at that. But manufacturers and retailers report that these days, dog owners are paying a lot closer attention to their dogs’ digestive health and what they can do to help improve it. A better understanding from pet owners and a demand for more solutions continues to drive the market for products in this category.

“The days of just assuming the dog has gas and leaving it at that are over,” said Heidi Nevala, president of Natura Petz Organics in Minneapolis. “There is so much more emphasis on the digestive system for humans that they’re paying more attention to it for their pets as well. People know that the digestive system is directly related to so many other things, including immune health, skin and coat, and just a general reflection of their well-being.”
